All this talk on Talking Dead, constantly bringing up Connie and Daryl when we know LR hasn’t filmed since 10x09 and trying to reiterate that Carol and Daryl are besties, mixed with the preview showing Carol and Zeke finally face to face reaffirms my beliefs that they are trying to make the GA thing that Carol is pushing Daryl away with her actions (re: Lydia and the whisperer) and bringing up Connie and “giving her blessing.” I honestly think they are trying to paint a picture of Carol trying to push Daryl toward Connie while spiraling and acting recklessly, then showing Carol and Zeke in the previews to make the audience think, ok, Carol and Daryl aren’t going to be romantic, because look at all these issues between them, and there’s Connie. And here’s Zeke. Carol’s going to work things out with Zeke and Daryl’s going to pursue Connie with Carol’s blessing. We know better, but I can see them trying to convince the General Audience of this, because let’s face it, have you guys seen some of the comments on facebook and twitter? I feel like these people have been watching a completely different show. Some of them are easily fooled. As someone once said (Gale Anne Hurd, maybe?) Caryl going canon would be the biggest spoiler. Of course they’re going to throw tension and angst in there. Carol’s in a dark place, understandably, and with Lydia in the picture, she, Daryl and Lydia are all facing the memories of their abusive pasts. The long focus on Daryl’s scars, both in “Open Your Eyes” and last season in Stradivarius, where Henry sees them and then mentions later on that season about Carol cutting her hair short when she was married to Ed because of the abuse. The focus on Carol waking up alone, her dreaming of Daryl, Daryl in turn holding onto the acorns and gently placing them on the table before gazing at them. Who would he be thinking about? Who gave them to him? Carol. Like he gave her the bracelet. Angela Kang has beautifully beaten us over the heads with their love, while putting enough tension and angst in there to confuse the general audience into thinking that it’s going to go one way when it’s about to go the other altogether. I can’t say I known for sure Caryl is going canon, but I am more certain now than ever that it is. Daryl and Carol love each other, and where there is deep, true love, there is going to be conflict and angst, because love isn’t always happiness and rainbows. Sometimes love is facing the darkest parts of yourself and of your partner and helping pull each other up and through the worst parts of life. I am ready for Caryl. I know a lot of people are worried and doubtful. But I am waiting impatiently for 10x08.
