Have you noticed? ikkleosu: A recurring theme… Sitting round the dinner table is a prominent aspect of Carol and Daryl’s storyline this season.  We see from Carol’s dream she wants the normality of sitting at a table with her family having dinner, but from the book cover she can’t do it because she’s haunted by the kids she’s lost. Meanwhile Daryl is desperate for her to join him at the Grimes family table, and sad for both himself and Carol because she can’t. So what if, once Alpha is dead, once Carol is “healed” (or has dealt with her grief/trauma more) the end of this season we get post-canon Carol and Daryl having dinner together, happy with their family. Now the “family” they have is an interesting part. We’ve all been talking since 9x16 about Lydia being part of their family - that is obviously still very much on the cards from what we know of filming spoilers. But I am wondering if the family dinner that will most heal Carol is to be sitting at that table with Daryl, Lydia, and most significantly, Judith Grimes. (RJ may be part of this too, but I don’t know if RJ will be leaving with Michonne or not, so we’ll just leave him out of the equation for now) As it stands, Carol is feeling this hideous pain and responsibility that all the children she has cared for have died. But we know that’s not true. One child she has cared for since before her birth is VERY much alive - and alive thanks to Carol. Judith is not Carol’s child, but she has been a child who has been VERY much under Carol’s care in the past. Now obviously not so much in recent years, but if Michonne was going to leave Judith with anyone, it would be Carol. JUST imagine HOW MUCH it would do for Carol for Michonne to ask that of her? For Michonne to say that she’s going to find RIck, and she wants to keep Judith safe here and the ONLY PERSON she trusts to treat Judith as she would, is Carol. It would do SO MUCH to show Carol that despite not believing Carol over the hallucinations etc, Michonne does UTTERLY trust her to look after her daughter. I would DEARLY hope that Carol revealing to BOTH Daryl and Michonne what happened with Lizzie, would be part of that. They would know then HOW MUCH Carol sacrificed of herself to keep Judith safe. Also interesting to note that it was Michonne and Daryl involved in the storyline with the killer kids in season 9, perhaps created partly because Kang wanted to created a situation so that when Carol does revel she killed Lizzie - she’s doing ti to 2 people who FULLY understand what it’s like to kill kids. I can just see that it would bring so many threads together, allow Michonne to leave, bring her and Carol as close as they SHOULD be, give Carol the show of trust that she has lost in herself, give her the family setting and normality she craves, and give Daryl back his Carol. I truly hope towards the end of this season we see Carol at the dinner table with her “husband” Daryl and kids - Lydia, Judith, RJ or a combination thereof - who SHE has kept alive nad loved and cared for and made happy.
